Insights & Opportunity

Landscaping decisions are usually made blind, homeowners commit to a design without seeing it in their actual space or understanding long term cost and environmental impact. The opportunity was to let AI and AR turn landscaping into something visual, data informed, and easy to plan around, all within a single day of design and build time.


Process

Core flows designed and prototyped solo, within a 24 hour build.

  • Designed the main dashboard, surfacing active projects, environmental insights, and next actions at a glance

  • Designed a tiered budget and materials selector, tied to sustainability metrics

  • Designed a technical blueprint view with zone mapping and AI generated optimization suggestions

  • Designed a project timeline showing phased progress, material tracking, and milestones

  • Designed a chat and session log view for communication and recorded site visits

  • Built out the core flows as a working prototype, with select features shown as concept

Validation

Feedback came through the hackathon's judging process, where the project placed 7th out of 30 teams. Given the 4 hour timeframe, validation was limited to judge and peer feedback rather than real user testing.


Interface & Systems

The design spans five core sections, Design, Blueprints, Budget, Timeline, and Chat, unified under an organic visual system with a consistent green accent used for status, progress, and AI generated insights.


Outcome & Reflection

The core flows were built and functional within the hackathon's 4 hour window, with some AI and data features presented as concept rather than fully built. Placing 7th out of 30 teams validated the product direction under real time pressure and judged competition. With more time, next steps would include real user testing and building out the concept features into working functionality.
